Verb TER Remember the verb PODER, from last class?

A gente _____________ conversar até a hora do almoço. It is an irregular verb. The other verbs aren’t, but they all end in - ER The Brazilian clock goes by the 24 hours system. So, we start the day at hour zero and end it at hour 24. We also have a different name for midday – meio-dia-, and for midnight – MEIA-NOITE. You see, noite is a female word, and dia is a male word. Our morning starts at 0:01 and goes until 11:59, then our afternoon starts and goes until 18h. We don’t have a word for evening and another for night, they are both noite. But we do have a word for during the night time, that time that goes from 1 in the morning until about 5, we call it madrugada, when you should be sleeping. Examples:
